Meet Our Team
Lauren (she/her) comes from a background in international public health and participatory communication for social change, and has worked in diverse conflict-affected communities overseas. She feels deep gratitude for the Open Society Foundation fellowship that supported the start of the Connection, and for all the amazing colleagues and allies who have sustained it. She finds balance through being in nature, with family, and among friends both two- and four-footed.
Caitlin (she/her) is a clinical social worker licensed in DC and MD and is bilingual in English and Spanish. As a doctoral candidate in International Psychology, she has studied and trained globally to hone her expertise in trauma and migration. Previously a Connection pro bono therapist, Caitlin now enjoys now enjoys providing supervision to fellow clinicians and designing and facilitating trainings for a variety of professionals in helping fields. She utilizes a collaborative approach with the goal of creating more inclusive, sustainable, and supportive working cultures. In her free time, Caitlin finds peace cultivating the plants in her indoor jungle or exploring them in nature.
Andrea (she/her) is a clinical social worker specializing in individual psychotherapy and supporting the mental health of forced migrants. Andrea lives in Baltimore and loves getting to meet with people from around the world through her work with the Connection. She has a background in linguistics and is committed to language access and native language reclamation. She has two children and two dogs and can often be found hiking around with one or more of them!
Whitney (she/her) has a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities. Bringing to bear a wealth of experience in the non-profit sector, with a focus on homelessness, programming, and workforce development, she is dedicated to helping empower individuals to overcome challenges and thrive in their personal and professional lives. Whitney finds joy in maintaining an active lifestyle through fitness activities. She also enjoys exploring new destinations, immersing herself in different cultures, and creating lasting memories with her husband and two children.
Sarah (she/her) is a social worker specializing in supporting the mental health of refugees, asylum seekers, and other forced migrants. She comes from a background in refugee resettlement and international human rights, having worked overseas in Sierra Leone and Ethiopia. Sarah lives in Takoma Park with her husband and two children and spends her free time hiking, beachcombing, exploring, and traveling with family and friends.
